Let’s Make a Difference!

One of my favorite things to do is to get my cool gel pens out, in different colors, and send notes to the people in my life. These might be notes of encouragement, a “Thank You,” a “Just because I was thinking of you,” an “I love you, Girl, you got this!” , or “You’re doing a great job!” Or simply letting them know that I am praying for them, that I am right beside them, and they are not alone in what they may be going through. Sometimes, I even send little notes, anonymously! That is fun!! Especially with my co-workers, hearing them talk about it, wondering who wrote it, or whose serial killer writing it is (hee, hee). Now, don’t rat me out!

I have a new BFF, well, she doesn’t know she is my BFF, but I stalk her (I mean, follow her) on the ‘Gram and she helps me make Monday Great Again with her weekly emails. Her name is Hannah Brencherand she is a cute, sassy, smart, and fantabulous gal in her 20s. Her writing is amazing! I resonate with so much of her life journey.

The first book I have read of hers is If You Find This Letter: My Journey to Find Purpose Through Hundreds of Letters to Strangers. This is a wonderful memoir of love and faith, and how Hannah dedicated her life to showing total strangers that they are not alone in the world. Lonely and depressed, she realized that she started feeling better in the process so she would leave notes all around the city she was living in. This little project took on a life of its own when she made an offer on her blog: She would handwrite a note and mail it to anyone who wanted one. Well, you can imagine what her inbox looked like! You can read about her journey in her book.

So, my friend Hannah, started a special thing in December called The 12 Days of Love Letter Writing, that runs from December 3 – December 20. I signed up and I would love for you to join me! We have the opportunity to send letters to those that especially need love and encouragement this time of year. You can check it out right here! See how Hannah and I are so connected? We love to write letters or notes!

I enjoy sending notes but I LOVE receiving them even more. It never seems to fail that you are having one of “those days” and you happen to look at your mail and find the most endearing and wonderful words that really speak to your soul or what you are going through that day. Even if you’re like me and the mail has piled up and the day you decide to go through it, Ta Da!, you find a note that was purposed exactly for you. Exactly for that day. Exactly for that moment. Am I right? This speaks volumes and is such a blessing.

I often find myself sending notes in the mail or leaving one in my co-workers mailbox when I am feeling low, or if/when I have a lot on my mind. This helps me to set my heart in the right posture, to change my perspective, and to help me to be more “others-focused.” I encourage you, even if things seem dim right now, or if your anxiety is at a 10+ on a scale from 1-10, sit down, pull out some paper or blank note cards, and write a few words for those around you. Maybe you have a friend going through something really hard?

You can also sign up for The 12 Days of Love Letter Writing and send letters to some far away friends needing some love and kindness. Note-writing helps me to slow down my thoughts and to pray for the person I am writing to. As I am encouraging someone else through my hand-written words, it helps me to recognize and remember all the good that God has done in my life. It helps me to praise my Lord in my circumstances, and it causes me to see my problems through a new lens. Try it, friend!

Another plug for my BFF, Hannah, her latest read, entitled Come Matter Hereis so good! Both of her books are written as memoirs or autobiographies and I love how she shares her personal story –in her life, relationships, health, work, and her dreams. I will most likely read this one again in 2019. Join me! You can grab a copy here!

You, my fabulous gal pals, are so kind and you have the biggest hearts. I love having you on this journey with me. Some of you have shared little tidbits of your story in response to my posts or you’ve shared how my words have encouraged you or have helped you to cheer for your loved ones. I am so grateful for this opportunity to let God work through me, in writing out the simple chapters of my story. To tell you the truth, it has been quite healing for me in the process. With this said, sign up for 12 days…. See if you find healing or more joy in YOUR writing a simple love letter or two, or five.

Share your participation or experience with the 12 Days… project using the hashtag #MLL12Days!

Hugging you so tight,

Tammy
